Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS)

Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) provide services across Lincolnshire. Based in community locations, including Lincoln, Boston, Grantham, Louth and Sleaford, the service is designed to meet a wide range of mental health needs in children and young people. These include mild to moderate emotional well-being and mental health problems, as well as moderate, acute and severe, complex and/or enduring mental health problems or disorders that are causing significant impairments in their lives.

The specialist CAMHS is part of multi-agency pathway that begins in universal services (such as teachers, health visitors, school nurses, educational psychologists etc.)

CAMHS provides specialist support and treatment to children and young people up to their 18th birthday (or those aged 24 under the care of the Local Authority) when resident in Lincolnshire or registered with Lincolnshire GP

The types of help that can be provided will usually involve group work and may also include:

  • family therapy
  • individual therapy
  • cognitive behavioral therapy
  • psychiatric intervention
  • psychotherapeutic intervention

The service is across Lincolnshire with clinics based in Lincoln, Louth, Boston, and Grantham and additional outreach clinics within each area.

Crisis Team (CAMHS)

The Crisis and Home Treatment Service is available for children and young people experiencing a mental health crisis that urgently requires specialist input or requires intensive input to enable a young person to remain at home as an alternative to hospital admission. The team also supports earlier discharge from hospital where possible. In addition the team supports the eating disorder service enabling the continuity of care.

The service is available seven days a week between 8.45am - 7pm. Outside of these hours the cover is provided for advice, crisis and emergencies via an on-call system.

Referrals

Referrals for crisis intervention are accepted from professionals only (via Single Point of Access on 0303 123 4000). If a young person has self-harmed and requires medical treatment or are at imminent risk of harm, they should go straight to A&E.
