Grantham College is a small General Further Education College serving the needs of its local economy and community with over 4000 learners. 20% of learners are now apprentices. The college receives funding from individuals and employers as well as from the SFA, EFA, Lincolnshire County Council, ESF and HEFCE.
At Grantham College we are pleased to provide not only high-quality education but support and guidance for everyone that studies with us. We welcome students with learning disabilities and difficulties; those with medical conditions including those with profound and multiple learning disabilities, students who have traditionally found education a challenge and those that do not have English as a Second or Other Language (ESOL). Grantham College is committed to the principles of inclusive learning and the Additional Learning Support team ensure that the correct support is put in place to ensure that each student reaches their full potential. The level of learning support provided depends upon individual need and may include mobility assistance, personal care and additional support within the class including 1:1 LSA support where needed.
Our dedicated and specialist team are on hand to offer support for a variety of different needs such as:
- Behavioural, Emotional and Social difficulties
- Sensory needs – visual and hearing impairments
- Physical needs – including personal care if required
- Dyslexia assessment
We are able to offer specialist equipment to aid learning such as large screen monitors and specialist software and ipads.
Access arrangements are available to students who require additional support during assessments such as:
- A reader
- A scribe
- Additional time
- Use of a laptop
The personal tutor team offers help, information, advice and guidance to help students with barriers to their learning. We also offer 1:1 sessions with our health and well-being officer, counsellor or referral to external agencies.
In September 2014 we were pleased to announce that we have opened a personalised day care facility ‘Day Break’ that runs for 5 days a week.
Grantham College recently recieved a 'good' grade for the High Needs provision from the recent Ofsted inspection held in December 2015.

We have 2 personal care suites fitted with a tracking hoist, a MILE sensory room, a medication room and an adapted minibus with our own in-house drivers and Passenger Assistants to ensure the safety of our young people at all times.
