1. What is Returning Home?
Many young people in care will still have some form of contact with their birth families and some may choose to return home.
If you return home to live with family for longer than six months, then you will no longer be referred to as a 'relevant child'. You would instead be a 'qualifying child'. This means that the Local Authority can help advise you in the future, but there is no longer a legal duty to maintain what was discussed in your pathway plan.
