Dawnosaurs is a free event for children on the autism spectrum to enjoy the Natural History Museum with their families and siblings, free from the hustle and bustle of the general public.

Visitors have access to a wide-ranging programme of activities, including a chance to see, meet and even touch live animals. All activities are supported by experienced, autism-aware facilitators.

A dedicated Sensory Room will also be available for those children needing a quieter and calmer space.

This event is best for children aged five to 15, and siblings are welcome.

Three dates are availabe:

  • 8 December 2018
  • 10 February 2019
  • 28 April 2019

Doors will open in the morning at 8.00 with large parts of the Museum available exclusively for Dawnosaurs guests until 10.00. Our hands-on gallery Investigate and the Sensory Room will remain open for you until 11.00. Visit the Life in the Dark exhibition, take part in workshop activities, attend our live animal show, and make use of our dedicated Sensory Room. After 10.00 you are welcome to visit other galleries.
