The core purpose of children’s centres

The core purpose of children’s centres is to improve outcomes for young children and their families and reduce inequalities between families in greatest need and their peers. Children’s centres provide care and education for families with children, from conception to their fifth birthday. Services include:

  • advice and guidance
  • integrated education and parenting skills
  • school readiness for children
  • work readiness for parents
  • child and family health
