Your feedback, and our responses, about the SEND Local Offer (published June 2018)
The local authority publishes annual feedback from users of our SEND Local Offer website.
The following comments, published June 2018, reflect the feedback and suggestions we received in 2017 from young people with SEND and their families.
Your feedback is used to identify future developments and influence changes that we make to the SEND Local Offer. Alongside your comments listed below, we have included a response from the local authority to show how we will use the feedback we have received.
Please contact us on email@example.com if you have any feedback or suggestions on how the website can be improved.
We will be making this our priority between July 2018 – July 2019, as we are aware that this has been a recurring issue experienced by our users. We will involve young people, parents/carers, SENCo’s and social workers in improving the usability of the website.
We are working with the ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) working group to create a dedicated section on the Local Offer website for autism (i.e. diagnosis, parents and children FAQ, and relevant resources). We will also co-produce this with residents, especially young people with autism and their parents.
The Local Offer and Early Help team have created a dedicated page for Young Carers (under Social Care category) which is now available here.
"There is very little information on internships (for 16+) and transitioning into adulthood (e.g. housing, employment, further education).”
We have uploaded more information on Supported Internships, and will continue to develop our Preparing for Adulthood section with our colleagues from Housing and Adults Social Care.
"What is your policy for publishing? How do you decide whether a service is included on the Local Offer website?"
Any provider or service for children and young people with SEND in Hammersmith and Fulham can be included on the Local Offer. This page has all the information about how to promote a service on the local offer. Being on the Local Offer website does not not necessarily mean the service is endorsed or recommended by the council. Our full disclaimer statementt can be found under our 'About' page. We are working to get this disclaimer statement included under all service pages.
"A lot of parents and professionals don't even know about the Local Offer - they have never heard of it."
With parents we have co-created publicity materials about the local offer website in the form of leaflets and posters. These were distributed to schools, colleges, nurseries, children's centres, and GP's between March – May 2018. We have also made it compulsory for all Children's Services staff to include the Local Offer website links in their email signatures. Additionally, working with LBHF Media and Communications team, we have agreed for the website to be promoted regularly via the main LBHF Twitter account (@LBHF).
