Youth Council Elections

The Hammersmith & Fulham Youth Council (HFYC) is an elected group of young people between the ages of 13-19 who live, work or study or are looked after by the borough and its purpose is to give young people a ‘voice’ that is listened to by decision makers and to involve them in decisions about issues and services that affect young people in the borough.

Youth council members are representatives of young people in their schools, colleges and youth projects. They develop different ways to find out the voices of young people on the things that matter to them and make sure decision makers listen to them.

The youth council support the elected Member and Deputy Member of Youth Parliament to campaign on issues affecting young people locally and nationally and to plan projects and events to benefit the community. They also work with the council and health services in the borough to give their opinion on policies and services and how they can work best for young people.
