Creative Voice Youth Arts Festival 2019 - This is Who I Am

Monday 28 October - Saturday 2 November in various venues with the Pop Up Space running from Tuesday 29 - Saturday 2 November 12-3.30pm at Princes Quay.


Creative workshops, performances, conversations and exhibitions exploring and campaigning on issues important to young people #thisiswhoiam.

All events are free with a recommended age range 11 – 19 years including a city centre Pop Up space, Makerspace and Music Workshops, Paste Up Exhibition and Halloween Party.

Co - programmed and organised with the Young Mayor, Creative Voice Young People's Planning Group and Youth Arts Takeover. Inspired by the song written from last year's Festival "This is Who I Am"  by Freedom Road Creative Arts and Hull UK Youth Parliament "Make your Mark" campaigns.

‘Paste Up’ Exhibition

Tuesday 29 October – Saturday 2 November
A street art project exploring young people’s digital lives and experiences. In a series of workshops with My Pockets, groups of young people from Psypher, Ainthorpe Youth Centre, Big Buzz and Young Carers Group created images that have been printed on large-scale printers at MakerspaceHull. The project is fun, imaginative and brings to life some of the shopfronts on Whitefriargate.

Halloween Party

Wednesday 30 October 7-9pm.
Dress up and have fun! Includes the chance to make your own scary image projection of “This is who I am” with MakerspaceHull. There will also be cosy firepits to sit around and a quiet area.

Hull Dance and Blood Memory Dance Company

Jazz Dance workshop, Wednesday 30 October 11am-12pm
Blood Memory Hip Hop workshop, Friday 1 November 11am-12.30pm
with final performance by Blood Memory’s professional company 'Counting Planes' at 5.30pm.
Hidden stories unfold about ordinary people from extraordinary times, setting the era through emotive use of dance, play and live music the performers use their bodies to tell stories of past, present and future, bringing to life a little piece of social history.

Museum Late
Ferens Art Gallery HU1 3RA
Friday 1 November 7-9pm, for 16-25 years olds

As part of Youth Arts Festival you’re invited to join Ferens Art Gallery for a night of creativity, inspiration and conversation. Co-produced by Future Ferens a team of 16-25 year olds working with gallery curators at the Ferens Art Gallery, Hull, this late event invites young people to take-over the gallery, exploring identity through drag, live-art and portraiture.
