Children’s Centre’s support families with children aged 0-5 years offering universal and targeted services across venues in Hounslow. Our 3 localities (Central, East and West), provide a supportive, safe and welcoming environment for all local families to play with their children. Alongside our fun playgroups we also support families with: with:

  • Advice, information and support
  • Helping families to prepare for nursery or school
  • Supporting healthy lifestyles
  • Parenting support groups/courses
  • Support in returning to work
  • Meeting other families in the local community

  • Unless stated, all sessions are for children 0-5 years old. Siblings up to the age of 8 years old are welcome during school holiday periods if they are accompanied by a child aged 0-5 years.

  • All parents/carers and children need to be registered, before attending our sessions. To register please complete all sections of our registration form (554 KB) and return it to your local Children’s Centre. Once this form has been processed, you will be registered with all of our Children's Centres in the borough. Alternatively, you can pick up a registration form at any centre.

The information you provide will be held by Hounslow Borough Council in line with the Data Protection Act 2018 and the General Data Protection Regulation and may be used by the Council and other children’s centre partner organisations, such as Local NHS & care agencies. This information will be used to help keep you informed about services for you and your family in your local area, it will also be used to help us monitor and improve these services in the future. What if my child has a specific need?

All activities in our Children's Centres aim to be both welcoming and inclusive to all children, including those with special needs or disabilities. We have targeted groups for Parents and children with special needs and/or disabilities only. These groups are called 'Sharing their world'.

Free childcare for 2, 3, and 4 year olds

The government provides free early learning to 2, 3 and 4 year olds as outlined below

 2 year olds
  • Families receiving certain benefits or on a low household income
  • 15 hours of free childcare or early education for 38 weeks
  • A total of 570 hours per year, that you can use flexibly with one or more childcare provider
  • Some providers will allow you to ‘stretch’ the hours over 52 weeks, using fewer hours per week

(15 hours)

  • All families in England with 3 and 4 year old children
  • 15 hours of free childcare or early education for 38 weeks

  • Working families in England with 3 and 4 year old children
  • 30 hours of free childcare or early education for 38 weeks
  • A total of 1,140 hours per year, that you can use flexibly with one or more
    childcare provider
  • Some providers will allow you to ‘stretch’ the hours over 52 weeks, using fewer hours per week

Parenting Courses

We run different parenting groups termly. To find out which groups are running and where, please refer to your local timetable or see 'parenting and support groups'

Parenting Groups include: 

  • Peep Learning Together Programme (LTP)- This course offers an effective way of helping parents and carers to improve their children’s life chances, by making the most of everyday learning opportunities.
  • Incredible Years- This course has been shown to be helpful for parents who would like support to manage their child’s behaviour. It has also shown to be effective for children who have significant behavioural difficulties, as well as those with conduct disorders and diagnosis such as ADHD. 
  • Family Links-This Nurturing Programme is a 11-week Parenting Programme offering simple, effective tools to help parents and children understand and manage feelings and behaviour. 

To refer a family or to self-refer to a parenting group, please complete an online parenting group referral form. *Please note: making a referral does not guarantee a space on to this course. Once the referral has been received, it will be assessed for suitability and we will be in touch.

Volunteering Opportunities

  • Gain invaluable experience to help with future employment
  • Meet new people
  • Help make a difference to the local community
