Brighter Futures for Under Fives - Children's Centres

All Hounslow Children’s Centre’s are now closed until further notice.

Children’s Centre’s support families with children aged 0-5 years offering universal and targeted services across venues in Hounslow. Our 3 localities (Central, East and West), provide a supportive, safe and welcoming environment for all local families to play with their children. Alongside our fun playgroups we also support families with:

  • Advice, information and support
  • Helping families to prepare for nursery or school
  • Supporting healthy lifestyles
  • Parenting support groups/courses
  • Support in returning to work
  • Meeting other families in the local community

Weaning and Breastfeeding

Online Activities:

Breastfeeding - NCT Infant feeding counsellors are happy to support via telephone during the times below (previously times for Baby Café). Please call the Duty Health Visitor if you would like to be referred on: 020 8973 3490.

Mondays- 14.00 to 15.30

Wednesdays- 9.45 to 11.45am

Thursdays- 10.00 to 11.30am

Alternatively:

  • NCT are running their Infant Feeding Line (every day from 8am to midnight): Telephone: 0300 330 0700 (choose option 1). It is staffed by a breastfeeding counsellor who can support about questions or concerns whether breastfeeding, formula milk or solids.
  • National Breastfeeding Helpline (help & support 365 days per year 9.30am-9.30pm): Telephone: 0300 100 0212
  • La Leche League Helpline (8am to 1pm): Telephone: 0845 120 2918 Staffed by trained volunteer breastfeeding counsellors who can support mums with questions about breastfeeding.
  •  The Breastfeeding Network Helpline: Telephone: 0300 100 0212 / Helpline (Bengali/Sylheti): 0844 856 4003 Trained volunteers offering telephone support.
  • Baby Buddy App: a useful resource with infant feeding films (Download from apple store, Google play or web app).

Babies 0-2 Years

Online Activities

Weekly, Online, Drop in Baby Group - run by Children Centre staff. Please see the Online Children's Centre Session page for further information.

Activities to try at home- We have lots of Fun activities to try at home, including Treasure baskets, Sensory bottles and more!

Online Stories- by Baby Club (CBeebies), where parents, carers and their babies can play, sing and listen to stories together. Get comfy and join in the fun from your sofa.

Online Activities- by Hungry Little Minds Simple, fun activities for kids, from newborn to five.

Online Pregnancy and Postnatal Classes- by Joyful- Bouncetheatre. A new project aiming to support pregnant and postnatal women during lockdown. With two online classes a week, there is time dedicated to your emotional health and physical well-being. Classes are free to participate in thanks to funding from Sports England. Women are welcome to join at any stage, but must email lauren@bouncetheatre.com so we can correctly tailor the classes to their individual needs.

Family Links- have put together some guidelines with recommendations for 24-hour physical activity, sedentary behaviour and sleep for children under 5 Years. They also have other helpful, parenting downloads on their website.

Kids Cooking Recipes-Get fussy little eaters into the kitchen and turn them into little chefs with the BBCgoodfood easy and fun cooking project.
