Community Action Dacorum transport consists of two sections: Community Wheels: From one minibus at the launch of the service in 1981, Community Wheels now has 12 vehicles including our "community" bus. For ease of access of all groups, these are kept in six different locations in Dacorum. These are 12 to 16 passenger vehicles; 8 are equipped with tail lifts and removable seats so that wheelchairs can be accommodated. The minibuses can be hired by groups which are affiliated to Community Action Dacorum with members in Dacorum, and are concerned with the welfare of elderly, disabled and young people. Currently there are over 400 groups registered. Each group is asked if they can provide their own experienced volunteer driver, but a volunteer driver can usually be recruited if needed. As a part of the responsible position Community Transport takes regarding the driving of the Community Wheels minibuses, a driver assessor is employed. We can assess drivers for the Hertfordshire County Council minibus certificate, as well as MiDAS (Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme).. To arrange for an assessment please telephone Community Transport on 01442 253935. Community Wheels also provides several timetabled bus services throughout Dacorum using a 16-seater minibus. Contact or visit the website (link given above) for further information. Community Cars: A car scheme for individuals who have difficulty using public transport. Volunteer drivers in their own cars will take passengers on pre booked journeys. These drivers are paid a mileage rate. A realistic charge to the client is agreed at the time of booking based on mileage and can be paid in cash/cheque or Dacorum Travel Vouchers. A discount is given to Dacorum Card holders.

Roundabout Transport is a registered charity providing a low cost minibus service to community groups in the Watford, Three Rivers, Hertsmere, St Albans and all surrounding areas. Buses are available 24/7 and can be taken anywhere in the UK. Please note: We do not provide a transport / travel service for individuals. How can we help? If you run a non-profit making community group we can provide you with modern, reliable transport. Our buses can be rented for short trips or week long excursions. Who can benefit? Any non-profit making community group can use us, including groups with impaired mobility, learning difficulties or older groups. Our buses can carry up to 15 passengers, are fitted with seat belts complying with all modern safety legislation. They are also ideal for youth groups, schools, and sporting groups or clubs. What about drivers? We encourage groups to provide their own drivers. If you are over twenty five years old and have a full U.K. driving licence (obtained before 1st January 1997) you may drive our minibuses. They are a lot easier to drive than you might think, however, we aim to provide all new drivers with a “familiarisation” session. Accessability: All buses are accessible for wheelchair users. For further information, please contact us, or visit our website.

Using shortlists

As you browse around this website you can build up your own personal shortlist of services and activities to display here. Using shortlists is a bit like using the shopping basket function on online shopping sites. Shortlists provide a good way of collecting together information about services which may be of interest to you. When you are viewing your shortlist, you can display a summary version or a detailed version of the shortlist by selecting the appropriate link. You can also send the shortlist to your printer to get a printed version of your list.

You can add items to your shortlist by clicking the 'Add to shortlist' button displayed alongside each item on your search hit lists or when viewing the details of an item. Items are removed by selecting 'Remove from shortlist' alongside that item.

Your shortlist information is stored in a temporary part of your browser, so if you close down your browser the shortlist will be cleared. You can also clear the shortlist at anytime by going to the shortlist and selecting 'Clear shortlist' from the onscreen options.
