Parent Workshops and Practitioner Training

Programmes for Parent Carers and Practitioners to promote & support positive development in children.

Triple P 0-12 years: Managing fighting and aggression - Gloucester

What is Triple P?

The Triple P – Positive Parenting Program knows all parents have different needs. Some may want a tip or two to make life smoother at bedtime or when children fight or argue. But others could be in a complete crisis and need more intensive parenting support.

Triple P Discussion Groups:

Triple P Discussion Groups are a series of short, small group sessions that offer practical advice for tackling specific problem behaviours.

A Discussion Group brings together about 12 parents who are experiencing the same parenting problem and covers a specific topic.

Parents can attend all four of the Discussion Groups or select the ones that fit their needs.

Who is it for?

Parents or caregivers with a specific concern about their child’s behaviour. They are most likely to benefit when their concerns are around a relatively discreet, mild to moderate behavioural issue.

What happens at a Discussion Group?

In a relaxed group session, parents will receive tips and suggestions for dealing with their child’s problem behaviour. You’ll see short video clips showing other parents successfully dealing with the same issue, and you’ll be encouraged to share your thoughts with other parents in the group.

You’ll get a take home workbook with simple exercises and information to help you try your new strategies at home.

The Discussion Groups take two hours.

Aims and Objectives

Managing fighting and aggression:
In this Discussion Group, parents are encouraged to share their experiences of aggressive and destructive behaviour from their children and think about why children fight. Parents will be given positive parenting strategies to help children cooperate and get along with others. Parents will learnt to teach their children the skills to help them share, communicate and to be gentle. Strategies are also shared to teach your child to play nicely, resolve problems and manage those times when they may loose their cool and fight or become aggressive.
