Parent Workshops and Practitioner Training
Programmes for Parent Carers and Practitioners to promote & support positive development in children.
What is Triple P?
Triple P – Positive Parenting Program knows all parents have different needs. Some may want a tip or two to make life smoother, others could be in a complete crisis and need more intensive parenting support.
Triple P Discussion Groups:
Triple P Discussion Groups are a series of short, small group sessions that offer practical advice for tackling specific problem behaviours.
A Discussion Group brings together about 12 parents who are experiencing the same parenting problem and covers a specific topic.
Parents can attend all four of the Discussion Groups or select the ones that fit their needs.
Who is it for?
Parents or caregivers with a specific concern about their child’s behaviour. They are most likely to benefit when their concerns are around a relatively discreet, mild to moderate behavioural issue.
What happens at a Discussion Group?
In a relaxed group session, parents will receive tips and suggestions for dealing with their child’s problem behaviour. You’ll see short video clips showing other parents successfully dealing with the same issue, and you’ll be encouraged to share your thoughts with other parents in the group.
You’ll get a take home workbook with simple exercises and information to help you try your new strategies at home.
The Discussion Groups take two hours.
Reducing family conflict:
During this Discussion Group, parents share some of their experiences of conflict with their teenagers and discuss why sometimes this occurs in families. Several Positive Parenting Strategies are introduced to help parents teach their teens how to get along with other family members and resolve problems. Ways to manage times when conflict affects the whole family are also discussed.
