Local Offer

Local Offer description

We welcome all children regardless of additional needs. We have adapted and received training to ensure we can cater for some complex needs, this has included bolus feeding, suctioning, epi pen training and we have implemented PECs. Staff have worked closely with speech and language therapists, portage as well as many other professionals to ensure that we are a truly inclusive setting.

Training is an ongoing process and is reviewed periodically or when we are aware of any changes to a child's needs.

How does the early year's provision identify and assess children with special educational needs and disabilities?

How does the early year's provision identify and assess children with special educational needs and disabilities?

We work closely with the parents as they know their child best and this is done in line with observation and assessment. We have close links with other professionals and other settings to create and maintain a positive partnership to benefit the child.

We ensure that the curriculum is tailored in a way that all children can take part in all aspects. This is done by adapting activities to meet each child's individual needs or where needed, a more suitable activity is found or followed with the advice from other professionals.

We prioritise maintaining good relationships with all settings in our area, ensuring that we are always working with a multi-professional team.  We provide transition meetings to take place, with teachers from the new school visiting our setting to meet the child on a one to one basis.
