We offer ‘30 hours childcare for working parents’.

We are a day nursery and out of school club located in Shildon. Our last Ofsted inspection was rated 'good'.

We are able to offer funded and non funded places for birth to 4 year olds.

We offer 15 hours funded for eligible 2 year olds or 30 hours funded places for eligible 3 and 4 year olds.

We offer 'pick-up' and 'drop off' facilities for children at Timothy Hackworth School Shildon.

We operate 48 weeks of the year providing optional childcare for our children and their siblings in the school holidays.

How does the early year's provision identify and assess children with special educational needs and disabilities?

Children's progress and development is assessed through the EYFS and any concerns regarding their development will be observed through the SEN code of practice of Assess Plan Do and Review.

If a child's development is a cause for concern this will be discussed with parents/carers and the best outcome agreed upon. Advice from other agencies will be requested where necessary to obtain the best outcome for the child. Support would also be available through the SEND Early years team which could be D Catch Funding or an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP), support through Portage service, Outreach service, Equality and Inclusion Team.

Planning will be done to include all children and will be modified to each child's needs through the EYFS, a child's interests and development.

Specialist Services which may be assessed by the setting are:

We have a named SENCO who has training in:

  • SEND code of practice statutory SEND reforms
  • Supporting families with SEND
  • Reformed Autism Level 1
  • Visual Prompts to support children with SEN and Disabilities.

All staff have training in Statutory SEND Reforms. Some staff have had a training in Autism Level 1. One member of staff has training for Autism Level 2, Learning to Talk/Talking to Learn, I can in-house training to develop their understanding, and support from outside Agencies.

There is ramp access for wheelchairs from indoors to outdoors and disabled toilet facilities.

Through transition children are supported by meeting new staff who visit us, visits to new setting with our staff, visits with parent/carer. Talking to children about what changes/environment they will be moving into. Communication between parents/carers our setting and new setting to provide detailed information of each individual child.
