Local Offer

Local Offer description

Jack in the Box day care understand that all children have different experiences, lifestyles and cultures. They all learn, develop and progress through individual stages during play based learning.

Our aim is to ensure that all children are safe, and having fun whilst learning. We endeavor to meet the individual child’s unique needs by working closely with their families and other professionals and adapting our environments and planning to allow all children the best possible start within their learning journey.

Many children at some stage in their journey require additional support and care, during these times, our Special Educational Needs Coordinators (SENCO) may work alongside other practitioners and professionals to ensure the support and care provided is appropriate for the individual child and their family.

With parental consent Jack in the Box have worked alongside a variety of different professionals, we have strong links with our local Health Visitors and staff from One Point services such as family support workers.

Jack in the Box also work in partnership with specialist professionals such as Speech and Language Therapists, Educational Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Specialist Teachers for the Hearing Impaired and Physio Therapists.

All children who attend Jack in the Box have an individual learning plan, these plans are conducted using information and views from parents, nursery staff and other professionals.

All staff within the setting provide appropriate, exciting experiences daily that help and support children in achieving their goals and aspirations. Children’s wellbeing, challenging their learning and providing successful opportunities for all children is a fundamental aspect of our setting.

Practitioners frequently attend further training events and seek advice from others including the local authority to ensure they are pro-active in using their knowledge and skills to ensure that their practice and teaching abilities are of a high standard.

Practitioners have training and experience in supporting children with a range of special educational needs such as:

  • Autism spectrum disorders
  • Speech and Language delays and disorders
  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Hearing impaired
  • Physical delays and motor difficulties
  • Sensory difficulties
  • Severe food allergies such as nuts and wheat

Special educational needs describes the needs of a child who has a difficulty or disability which may make learning harder for them than for other children of their age. Each child’s difficulties and disabilities are unique and will be supported using strategies that aid and teach them as individuals.

Jack in the Box are experienced in applying for both short term and long term funding from the local authority to support children with special educational needs.
