Tidgy Puds childcare
I offer ‘30 hours childcare for working parents’.
About me – I’m Elaine and I live with my husband Ian and son Charlie. We have lived in Sedgefield since 2001. I first became an Ofsted Registered Childminder in 2010. My last inspection I was awarded a ‘Good’ with ‘Outstanding areas in safeguarding, caring, attention and well-being for my children. I am extremely dedicated and passionate about my role and my highest priority is for the safety, happiness and individual attention for the children, but also offering them love and consistency and lots of opportunities to interact and play alongside other children of various ages.
My main aim is to encourage, enable and give them the best start in life. I love the outdoors, so the children get lots of opportunities to experience their natural environment and explore the world around them, with lots of walks, park trips, bug hunting, making dens in the garden and many more.
My setting - We have a dedicated play room and a large kitchen extension. The whole of the downstairs is used for the children. I have a wide range of resource toys and activities for the children to learn and explore. The children have a choice of picture cards which they can choose from for the following day i.e. painting, craft, Play-Doh, treasure box, making dens, picnic, park trip, planting seeds & digging, tea party with the bears, treasure hunts, dolls/pushchairs/clothes, princess castle, farmyard/animals, making dens, dressing up box, library, feeding the ducks, baking, instruments, singalong/actions, story time/finger puppets, floor puzzles, construction/diggers, little people, Lego, train set, garage/cars and many more.
As some resources need to be attained in advance as I like to alternate the toys daily to keep the children interested and stimulated. I have a large garden with a high security fence and locked gate at all times. The children have a wide range of outdoor toys i.e. sand/water area, basketball, gardening, skittles, football, cars, bikes, rocker, slide, pushchairs, tractor, cricket set, golf set, garden games, a tent and tubes and many more. The garden is always accessible for the children. I promote a safe, warm, loving, happy and healthy environment both in and outside of my home. We have two cats called Bluebell and Horace, which the children love and adore. They come and go as they please using cat flaps. We also have a very small dog called Wilbur who stays in the kitchen area where his bed is whilst I am working and there is a stair gate on to prevent him going in other areas of the house.
Qualifications - Myself, my husband and son are all DBS checked and I have level one and two safeguarding certificates. QA level three in paediatric first aid. Public liability insurance with PACEY. I am registered with ICO (Information Commissioners Office). I have certificates for numerous courses that I have successfully completed. I am a dedicated member of the Durham childminding network. I have a full clean driving licence and my 7 seater car which has a full MOT certificate, taxed and insured for business use. I have car seats appropriate to their age securely fit. I also have home insurance in place.
Vacancies - I have experience with babies right up until secondary school. I will also try to offer flexibility within the hours I work depending on my child ratios. I currently have children in my care from the ages of twelve months up to 8 years old.
School runs - I can drop off/pick up from nursery/infants/juniors from Hardwick Primary school only. I work term time and have some availability through school holidays.
