Little Stars Early Years

We offer ‘30 hours childcare for working parents’.

We are a pre-school setting in Willington, offering fun and educational sessions that support children in developing the skills they need to make the most of their early years education, and to prepare them for nursery or school.

Our sessions are semi-structured with children involved in short group sessions at the beginning and end of each session. These group activities are linked to the Early Years Foundation Curriculum.

All children are treated as individuals. Activities are planned to reflect the interests and needs of the children at the setting to ensure they are making the best progress possible across all areas of the curriculum.

There is a outdoor area which is used every day to enhance the provision and offer a broader range of activities.

We offer free 15 hours provision for 2 year olds (subject to eligibility) through the Free Play and Learn for 2 year olds scheme. We also offer nursery provision of 15 hours per week for children aged 3 and 4 years. Parents are also able to pay for individual sessions.

We offer 30 hours in the form of Monday to Friday 9.00am -3.00pm, during term time only for those families who are eligible. Please comtact us for more information. Our waiting list is now open.

How does the early year's provision identify and assess children with special educational needs and disabilities?

How does the early year's provision identify and assess children with special educational needs and disabilities?

Staff assess the development of children through observations and spending time playing with the children. Any identified needs or concerns will be discussed with the parents at the earliest opportunity. As we are based within the Children's Centre staff have direct access to family workers and health visitors who can provide additional support, advice and guidance to families.

Individual support plans are developed where necessary.

How will the early years provision prepare and support my child(ren's) transition to their next educational establishment?

As a relatively new setting, we are still developing links with the local schools. We have already met with the Early Years Co-ordinator from Willington Primary School and have plans to develop this link over the coming months.

Staff from all local scools are welcome to, and will be encouraged to, visit us to meet children prior to their move to their new setting. We will provide all assessment information to the new setting and give detailed verbal feedback in relation to each child's progress and developmental level.
