Little Waves Day Nursery

We offer ‘30 hours childcare for working parents’. 

We offer all funding entitlements:15 hours and 30 hours for all children above the age of 2 years only and including private places.

We are a private and independent nursery, close to St Johns church in Seaham. 

We offer a mixture of funded and private childcare, with free meals and snacks to all children regardless if funded or private.

We care for children aged 2 years up to school age. Our staff are qualified to level 3 and above, or are working towards their qualification as an apprentice. Most practitioners also hold a paediatric first aid qualification.

Spaces are available on a full and part time basis, including limited term only spaces and stretched offers with all meals and snacks included in the place at no additional cost.

Staff have knowledge and experience of caring for children with additional needs and disabilities.

Local Offer description

We have a dedicated SENCO who has her level 3 SENCO award. She supports all children and their families to help the children grow and flourish by developing the appropriate support for individual needs and working closely with the multiagency team.

All staff here at Little Waves have experience and knowledge of a differing range of needs.

We are accessible to all children and families with mobility needs.

Staff regularly update their knowledge through training and research and work closely with each family to obtain and develop a plan of support.

We work very closely with each individual child, observing them and assess their development. We use the EYFS guidance and monitor each child's progress. We work closely with the parents to identify each child's needs and develop a plan of support where needed and where necessary seek additional support from a range of services.

Each child will have their own plan of support which will help them develop based upon their needs, interests and own way of learning to support them to develop to their full potential.

We work in partnership with a wide range of professionals such as those from the One Point Service, Equality and Inclusion team, Portage: ranging from Speech Therapists, Physiotherapists, Dieticians, Educational Psychologists, Health Visitors, Occupational Health Local Authority Advisors and other additional services.

All staff have received training in assessing children's development and can plan for additional support when necessary. The nursery has a dedicated SENCO who has a NCFE Cache level 3 SENCO award. Knowledge, support and guidance is regularly updated through the SENCO accessing SENCO business meetings to advise upon training available.

The nursery has a disability access point at the rear of the building. The lower floor and outdoor area is accessible to all children.

How will the early years provision prepare and support my child(ren's) transition to their next educational establishment?

The SENCO and keyworker continually work closely with parents planning the next steps in all areas of learning and development. Transitions are carefully planned and we work closely with the new setting and arrange meetings with the new setting. The SENCO/ key worker can visit with the child to aid transition. Staff from the new setting are welcome in the nursery to meet parents and their child and share achievements and progress.
