Durham Coronary Support Group

Our voluntary group is registered with the NHS and linked to the British Heart Foundation. Our aim is to provide encouragement, advice, support and information to heart patients, their families and friends.

We cannot, and do not, offer medical advice and we leave it to those who are qualified to do so, but we can describe our experiences.

The group is in contact with the Cardiac Rehabilitation Department at University Hospital Durham and someone from the group will usually give a short talk at some point during each rehabilitation course.

We can also help with home visits and telephone calls to patients or carers who may need reassurance from someone who has been in their situation.

The group's activities are organised by an elected committee of volunteers. The funding is mainly from members' contributions but we also hold raffles and coffee mornings when required.

We have contact with the Durham branch of the British Heart Foundation. The group is also in contact with other support groups such as Chester-le-Street, Sherburn and Shotley Bridge.
