BASIC - The Brain and Spinal Injury Charity

We help people who have a spinal injury or any type of brain damage such as that caused by cancer, haemorrhage, brain surgery, head injuries and neurological conditions.

We are passionate about helping people affected by brain or spinal injury, offering rehabilitation, support for carers and families and by raising awareness of the devastating effects it can have.

We will endeavour to help anyone with an acquired brain or spinal injury wherever they may live.

We offer a one-stop-shop of support for as long as we are needed:

  • no time limit on help
  • no waiting lists for most services
  • community-based, non-medical support
  • individually tailored rehabilitation plan with short and long term goals
  • a promise to listen by staff that understand

Our services have been designed to address the unique difficulties of the ‘hidden disability” which can result from acquired brain injury - so called because people often recover well physically but are left with ‘hidden’ problems, for example memory, concentration, cognitive (thought processes), behavioural, emotional, psychological and social.
