Durham County Badger Group
We conserve and protect badgers in their natural habitat between the Tyne and the Tees, to the Cumbrian border.
We:
- campaign for improved legal protection for badgers and their habitat.
- record the distribution and status of badgers and their setts and holds a comprehensive database.
- record locations of badger road deaths.
- monitors setts regularly and record details of activity or disturbance.
- occasionally strengthen and restore vulnerable setts to protect badgers from further disturbance.
- deliver talks to a variety of interested groups and participates in Durham Constabulary’s schools programme.
- assist the Police, RSPCA etc in respect of criminal activity relating to badgers or their setts.
- provide advice and information to planners and developers.
