The Alan Shearer Short Break Centre
We offer specialised breaks for adults with a range of disabilities, from overnight to longer stays.
Our dedicated staff are trained in caring for people with profound and multiple disabilities, Autism and Asperger's Syndrome. Skilled and experienced support is offered for those with additional health or medical needs and those who require specialist care.
With adapted bathrooms, specialised profile, air-filled beds and two Hannah Cot beds, our facilities are designed to suit all requirements. Overhead tracking and hoists throughout our bedrooms and bathing areas are available to assist people with limited mobility.
We also offer full, free access to the Alan Shearer Activity Centre - a specialist leisure and social centre, located on the lower floor.
Activities available include:

Information about our service is available in leaflet format and on our website. The centre staff communicate with service users in a way which is appropriate to their needs, including a range of literature available in PECS format.

The Alan Shearer Short Break Centre is a specialist service with experienced staff who are trained at least up to Diploma Level 3. Staff are experienced in looking after guests with a range of specialist needs including nasal-gastric feeding, insulin management and anticonvulsant medication.
