Nepacs - supporting a positive future for people who have experienced adverse situations in their lives

We are a North East charity who promote a positive future for individuals who have experienced adverse situations in their lives, including individuals impacted by the criminal justice or care systems.

Our volunteers bring energy, warmth, friendship and offer reassurance in the most challenging of circumstances. 

Our services include:

  • Freephone helpline
  • Support at Crown Courts in Newcastle, Durham and Teesside.
  • Visitor centre services at all seven prisons in the north east.
  • Family support services for prisoners and their families/friends including support during the early days in custody at HMPs Durham and Low Newton
  • Support for care leavers in custody and those released from prison.
  • A regional youth project helping children impacted by imprisonment.
  • Independent visitor volunteer service for looked after children.
  • A holiday scheme for prisoner's families.
  • Training for professionals on supporting prisoners families, care leavers and parental rights
  • Parenting and relationship programmes for prisoners and their families.
  • Wellbeing, family and parenting support for people subject to probation services in County Durham and Tees Valley
