Cumbria Information, Advice and Support Service (formerly Parent Partnership)

Cumbria Information, Advice and Support Service (formerly Parent Partnership) offer impartial and confidential information, advice and support to all parents/carers of children and young people (0-25 years) in relation to their special educational needs and disabilities. Working in partnership with other Local Authority commissioned organisations to provide the same information, advice and support service directly to children and young people.

Cumbria Parent Carer Forum

Are a constituted group of parents/carers/grandparents/foster carers in Cumbria who have children with disabilities and/or additional needs who are particularly keen that their views are heard, understood and acted upon.  They actively strive to work with, inform and influence the development of all services for all children and young adults with disabilities and/or additional needs in Cumbria - as first recommended by the previous government in "Aiming high for disabled children: better support for families" - May 2007. Parents/carers/grandparents/foster carers with a child/ren with disabilities and/or additional needs. Meeting and working together for support and change. They cover the whole of Cumbria split down into six localities, Allerdale, Copeland, Carlisle, Eden, South Lakes and Furness. In each locality they have a local forum and the forums elect representatives to the countywide steering group. 

Cumbria Children and Families Information Service

The Cumbria Children and Families Information Service provides free information, advice and guidance about a wide range of services, activities and entitlements for families with 0-19 year olds.

Independent Support Service

Independent Supporters - support young people and parents to understand the new legislative framework and to empower them to participate effectively in the process. The Independent Support service will provide support and advice for a time limited period to parents and children/young people with SEN as they transition to the new Education, Health and Care Plans.
