Milburn is a small, friendly, happy and ambitious school - probably one of the smallest in the country. Our children benefit from a family orientated ethos within which they are encouraged to achieve their best and become caring members of the community. Active links with other schools ensure that our children have the opportunity to interact and socialise with a wider range of pupils. Our children behave well, are highly motivated and above all contribute to the atmosphere in school, with their positive attitudes and enthusiasm.
Our dedicated and talented team of staff, work in partnership with parents and the community to provide the best for the children in our care. The small pupil numbers mean that our children benefit from high levels of individual support and interact confidently across age groups.Together we strive to ensure the children have a broad experience by providing exciting learning opportunities.
The school benefits from outstanding IT facilities and utilizes its rural surrounding for outdoor activity-based learning including Forest School. The local community see the school very much as the heart of the village and embrace it as such. The support that the school is given from our very mixed community is outstanding.

Special Educational Provision means any different or additional support than that generally made for children of the same age. What that provision might be depends upon the level and type of need; it might be specific work differentiated (adapted) in class, additional adult support in class, physical adaptations to the learning environment, support from an outside specialist such as an occupational therapist or a structured behaviour management programme.
Milburn School provides a broad and balanced curriculum for all children, which is differentiated to meet individual needs and abilities. In their planning, teachers set suitable learning challenges and respond to children’s diverse learning needs, thus enabling them to participate effectively in curriculum and assessment activities. Children may have special educational needs either throughout, or at any time during their school career. This policy ensures that curriculum planning and assessment for children with special educational needs takes account of the type and extent of the difficulty experienced by the child.
