Little Acorns Pre-School Nursery

We feel that every child is special and unique, and the friendly, knowledgeable and caring approach we give to all our children and their parents, ensures a very rewarding experience for us all.

Little Acorns staff and Trustees are committed to providing a safe and caring environment which is free from discrimination, and continuously review and take steps to enable us to do so. Parents/carers knowledge and opinions are central, and provide a vital role in a child's development, and as such are highly valued here at Little Acorns. Where a child has additional needs we will work in partnership with parents along with any other agencies, if required, in order to give all children in our care access to a broad and well balanced learning environment. We have a single story setting with plenty of floor space and a ramp to the door, and will work with you in whatever way we can to provide the best environment for your child.

Little Acorns Pre-School Nursery

OBSERVATION, SUPPORT AND LOTS OF PRAISE!

Through continuous observation monitoring and assessment we are able to identify any child that may require special educational needs. Our robust Key Worker system creates a special bond with your child ensuring they feel cared for, safe and valued. All children have full access to the EYFS curriculum, along with tailored support to ensure they get the most out of their time in our care. Regular observations, accurate recording, weekly progress checks and planned activities appropriate for your child's capabilities and needs, are just some of the ways in which we support their learning and general well-being. We also strongly encourage the sharing of milestones and activities from home, enabling us to build up a more rounded view of your child and plan appropriately for them.

If you have any concerns about your child during their time with us, then you can speak to your child's Key Worker who will be able to offer advice and support and share any observations that they may have with you. You can also speak with our SENCO, Jo Burton, who oversees and assists Key Workers in planning an educational programme tailored to meet the special needs of children within our setting. Private appointments can be made out of session to discuss any concerns or queries you may have. We are also able, with your permission, to contact and work with other relevant professionals, all meeting to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to ask questions and discuss the best way forward for your child.

As well as keeping staff training up-to-date on all aspects from SEND to First Aid, we provide consistent rules and boundaries along with lots of positive praise, working with parents to include how needs and behaviour are managed at home. The special bond formed between each Key Worker and their child enables the children themselves to express their views and opinions, and anything mentioned in session is noted for discussion with parents.

When your child is ready for moving on to the next stage in their learning journey, we will provide advice and support ensuring accurate and up-to-date information is passed on, in order that their needs continue to be met. In particular, we have a very close relationship with the adjoining nursery and school, and nearer the time children have short visits and join in with assembly and other activities, to ease transitions.

Little Acorns Out of School Clubs

GETTING TO KNOW THEM BETTER...

After an early morning start or a full day at school, it is important that children are able to relax and have fun in a safe and caring environment. Please see the "Your Club" section for an overview of the setting and our activities.

Children have access to various activities, along with support from staff should they need it. We encourage the sharing of hobbies and interests your child has at home or school, enabling us to build up a view of your child and provide appropriate activities for them where at all possible.

Our staff constantly strive to create an environment where your child is not only cared for but feels safe and valued. We have clear Club Rules and actively encourage good behaviour through, concise explanations, consistent care, praise and leading by example.

If you have any concerns about your child during their time with us, then you can speak with our Club Manager and SENCO, Jo Burton who will be able to offer advice and support and share any observations that she may have with you. Private appointments can be made out of session to discuss any concerns or queries you may have if you prefer. We are also able to work with other relevant parties such as their school, to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to discuss the needs of your child whilst in our care.

As well as keeping staff training up-to-date on all aspects from SEND to First Aid, we provide consistent rules and boundaries along with lots of fun and praise, working with parents to include how needs and behaviour are managed at home. Our staff are friendly and approachable enabling the children themselves to express their views and opinions, and anything mentioned in session is noted for discussion with parents.

If you have any queries please speak to Jo Burton, who will be only too happy to help.
