Oughterside Primary School

Oughterside Foundation School is a mixed primary school taking children from Reception to Year 6. It was originally built and opened 140 years ago, sometime between 1875 and 1876. It is a small, happy school where children feel safe and comfortable and where we seek to create a challenging learning environment that encourages high expectations for success through development-appropriate instruction that allows for individual differences and learning styles.

We encourage each child to develop their personality and skills in a caring environment. Because our children are listened to and valued, they feel they belong and thus continue to grow. They will learn to take responsibility, build their self-esteem and develop their self-confidence.

We strive to make children confident and creative builders of their future. Our focus is on the whole child. Our students are encouraged to meet academic challenges with openness, enthusiasm, and a willingness to solve problems. We stress the total development of each child: spiritual, moral, intellectual, social, emotional, and physical. We will combine high standards with a board, balanced and rich curriculum. Education will be the fusion of excellence and enjoyment.
