Children's Centre - Hindpool (Barrow)

Action for Children

Hindpool Children’s Centre provides a friendly, positive experience for our children and families.  Our strong links with midwives and health visitors allow us to support mums at antenatal and postnatal stages.  Our weekly Baby Clinic encourages mums and babies to visit and discuss any health concerns with Health Visitors in a friendly relaxed atmosphere.  Our varied timetable of activities aims to support families and their early learning experiences where activities such as Baby Time, Inbetweenies and Little Learners make Family Learning an exciting and enjoyable experience.

Most of our services are aimed at children aged 0 -5 years but we also offer support for families with older children up to 12 years, at home, in the Centre or in schools. Our strong links with local schools and nurseries allow us to be part of a vibrant and active community where children can develop and grow to become resilient, respectful and aspirational young people. We have a range of support services for adults including parenting, confidence and self-esteem development courses. Interaction between staff and service users is very positive. 'We love coming here and meeting new people, the activities are fun and age appropriate and even better they are free, staff are always helpful and supportive.’ ‘I would be lost without the support and patience I received from the Breastfeeding Supporters at the Centre.’

Ormsgill Children's Centre promotes Early Help to give every child the best chance in life.  Our activities range from antenatal and post-natal support through to family learning experiences where the wonderful stages of child development are celebrated and enjoyed. Our fortnightly Baby Clinic allow parents and carers to visit and discuss any health concerns with Health Visitors in a friendly relaxed atmosphere. We provide Little Einstein’s sessions where the wonders of how children learn and develop are explored and enjoyed. A Play to Learn, where children can be left in a safe environment with our staff is always provided at our variety of Adult Support courses which cover topics such as Healthy Eating, Self Esteem and Gaining Employment. Here are some comments from our service users.

'Lovely morning with lots of fun and educational activities. My daughter enjoyed the painting and the staff were excellent and engaged with the children really well.' 'I've brought my daughter to Baby Time since she was 3 weeks old and she loves it. It's a really good way for her to meet other babies and for me to meet other mums.' 'Great centre, great staff.'
