Alston Primary School

Alston Moor Federation is made up of two primary schools - Nenthead Primary School and Alston Primary School. We have a federation head teacher, a federation assistant head teacher, one special educational needs co-ordinator (SENCO) and one governing body. As a federation, we share facilities and work very closely together to the benefit of both school communities.

Partnerships are at the heart of the 21st Century Schools vision and are essential to: extend the breadth and quality of provision; respond better to pupils' wider needs; widen the impact of our strongest school leaders, teachers and governors; widen opportunities for collaborative professional development; and deliver greater value for money.

There are close links between Alston and Nenthead, Pre-school provision, Extended Schools and Samuel Kings School. This helps ensure that children confidently and happily progress through their schooling. We are always delighted when parents decide to send their children to one of our schools. If we have a place available we will always oblige. If your child is starting school you must apply directly to the Local Authority who manage, on behalf of schools, all new intake places.

Together, home and school can create a strong partnership which can engender and nurture that essential aspect of children’s education, a love of learning, which is why we actively encourage your involvement.

Local Offer

Partnership with parents and carers plays a key role in enabling pupils and young people with SEN to achieve their potential. The school recognises that parents and carers hold key information and have knowledge and experience to contribute to the shared view of a child's needs and the best ways of supporting them. All parents and carers of pupils with special educational needs are treated as partners and supported to play an active and valued role in their child’s education.
