Uemploy

Our main telephone is available Monday to Friday 8.30 am to 5.30 pm

Uemploy supports young people and adults with a learning disability and / or their families / carers to recruit, employ and maintain employment with their own personal assistant (PA).  This is a great option for people who want to take control of their own support, so they can live the life they want.

Uemploy supports people to recruit their own PA by following five simple steps:

Step1: Getting a direct payment: We provide information and advice about getting a direct payment and using it to employ a personal assistant.

Step 2: Designing your personal assistant: We use person-centred tools to help people plan what support they want, write a job description and person specification to make sure that people get the right PA to match their needs.

Step 3: Finding your personal assistant: People can search our PA pool or we can support them to place their own bespoke advert to find their perfect PA. We can then support people with shortlisting and interviews.

Step 4: Employing your personal assistant: We support people with all the legal checks and agreements necessary including criminal records, health, references, right to work, identity and contract of employment.

Step 5: Being a good employer: We can provide on-going support tailored to each person’s requirements to help them be a good employer. This can include induction, supervision, health and safety and referrals to other services as necessary.
