vision support

The Vision Support Centre / Barrow and Districts Society for the Blind are now running 'Younger Generations' a project for children and young people aged 0-19 with visual impairments.

The project aims to provide visually impaired children and young people the opportunity to participate in events and activities which they may not usually consider possible whilst building friendships between the children and their families who can share their own experiences and invaluable advice.

The Vision Support Centre can be found in what used to be known as “The Blind Shop” on Cavendish Street Barrow.

The Vision Support Centre is filled with useful vision aids such as talking watches, magnifiers, coin holders and much more to help make life with a vision impairment easier!

You can also find leaflets and information on all eye conditions such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, retinitis, cataracts… to name just a few - as well as helpful advice on benefits and concession entitlement for all ages.

Activities and events will be run at different venues across the area as our catchment area is fairly large and spread out but transport may be provided if necessary.

When is it on?
