Lime House School

Lime House School Logo

Lime House School was founded in 1899 and moved to its present location in Dalston (near Carlisle) in 1946. The school is a fully independent co-educational boarding and day school providing an affordable and quality education for pupils aged three to eighteen.

Recognised as efficient by the Department for Education since 1930, the school was recently inspected by the Independent Schools Inspectorate when teaching was described as being good to outstanding and the quality of pastoral care, welfare and health and safety of the pupils was also described as outstanding.

Set in a rural environment where each child’s talents and potential are carefully nurtured, our curriculum encourages academic achievement alongside pupils’ sporting, cultural and personal development.

Our aim is simply to ensure that each pupil achieves his or her potential both academically and socially, each child being treated individually. They are cared for in a safe, rural environment and every attempt is made to ensure that they develop confidence and self-esteem, but essentially, that they are happy. The happy child is often a successful one.
