We work closely with Park View Nursery School and other pre-schools in the area in order to make your child’s transition into school go as smoothly as possible. Please feel free to contact school if you have any worries or questions about your child starting Millom Infant school.

In September you can come to school to collect information on how to apply for a place for your child. You are welcome to make an appointment to look around the school with your child. In late September/early October we have an Open Afternoon so that you can come along with your child to see some of the exciting things we do in school.

In late June or early July, parents are invited to an Induction Evening where information is given out about your child starting school. Then a few days later you will receive a letter inviting you to visit school with your child during the school day. This will allow you to spend time in the classroom with your child.

We admit children into the Early Years class at the beginning of the academic year in which they have their fifth birthday.  The school year runs from 1st September to 31st August.  For the first few weeks of the Autumn Term, the children attend school for half a day only – either in the morning or afternoon. During this time they will be introduced to lunch time arrangements. The entry into school is phased over the first few weeks so that each group of children has time to settle down and gain confidence in their new surroundings.  Details of these arrangements will be sent to you in July.
