Ellenborough & Ewanrigg Infant School

Ellenborough & Ewanrigg Infant School Logo

Ellenborough and Ewanrigg Infants School is a Community Infant School and Nursery which takes boys and girls from age 2 to 7 years. The school was built in 1970 and is spacious and well cared for. It has four separate classrooms with modern facilities and is surrounded by attractive grounds with grassed areas and a range of outdoor learning areas.

Children are continually assessed by our teachers to ensure they are working towards their highest possible academic target. Children are engaged in the learning process by making the curriculum accessible to them. Our high staff to pupil ratio ensures that we can support an inclusive education that challenges each pupil at their level of understanding.

Our pupils are actively encouraged to take their own part in learning. They do this by self and peer assessment throughout and at the end of the majority of literacy and numeracy sessions as well as in other areas of the curriculum. The school curriculum teaches the children through PSHE and Science how to stay safe and look after ourselves and our bodies. This philosophy is lived out in our school routines and in the interactions our children have with each other and other people.

Our children receive individualised learning supported by a friendly and productive atmosphere that fosters self-confidence and encourages a sense of pride and self-worth in all of our children. The school day starts at 8.45am and finishes at 3.00pm. The Nursery children attend school from 8.45am to 11.45am.
