The school‟s foundation took place in 1608 and was endowed by Giles Brownrig, a local landowner. The site of this original school was in Sun Street, opposite the Old Parsonage. Nothing is now left of that building except for a font, which was found in the garden of Cliff House, and a plaque, which is in the school entrance hall, and states:

“Giles Brownrig caused this school house to be builded the 6 yeare of King James ano 1608 and gave a yearly salari to the schole maister for ever.”

The present site was built upon in 1862, the school then being what is now the Key Stage 1 classroom. Extensions to the building were dedicated and opened in 1962, and more recently in 2001. We see the School as a family in which each child and adult is an important person and has a unique part to play. We aim to develop each child academically, physically, spiritually, morally and socially and will help them reach their full potential by giving them the widest possible experiences.

We aim to enable each child to grow in confidence so that they can take their full place in society secure as individuals whilst able to respect the needs and values of others. As a Church of England school the life of our school will reflect and be guided by its Christian foundation in a way that creates a loving and caring atmosphere for all who work here.

Local Offer

Local Offer Description

At Ireleth St Peter’s Primary School we aim to meet the definition of Special Educational Needs (SEN), as stated in the Code of Practice. Special educational provision means: educational provision which is additional to, or otherwise different from, the educational provision made generally for children of their age in school. At any point in their school life a child may have Special Educational Needs. The majority of pupils will have their needs met through the normal classroom arrangements and appropriate differentiation, which may include additional short term support.
