May/June 2015 - Feedback from the Parent Carer Forum Facebook Page

Where to find it

I searched home education and nothing came up.  There are 2 local home education Facebook groups: Home Education South Lakes and Home Education Cumbria.  It would also be nice to have the links to the Elective Home Education Officer: Marie Barnes.

These have now been uploaded to the website.

Under the Schools Jig

The website is much better than it was!

Looks quite old fashioned and the parents I spoke to today hadn’t heard of it.  The word ‘offer’ is misleading and would like the name changed to ‘Local Information’.

Passed comments to Tess Brennen and Dewi Hughes – Co Leads with regards to the design of the website.

Emailed Parent Carer Forum to  explain that the ‘Local Offer’ name is a statutory requirement using national guidelines.  All Local Authorities must call it the Local Offer.

Further development with regards to the design will be looked into in the near future.

Aside from naming schools with specialist provisions for pupils with additional needs, I don’t really see what else they’re offering.

Asked Parent/Carer Forum for details of respondent to find out which sections were difficult to navigate, so that this can be looked into further.

I will be honest – I don’t have a clue what the ‘Local Offer’ means.  Do you mean the website?  If it is then it needs a different name that makes sense.

Sent email to the Parent Carer Forum to explain that the ‘Local Offer’ name is a statutory requirement using national guidelines.  All Local Authorities must call it the Local Offer.
