Aspergers Social Skills Group for Children and Teens
Social Skills are the means by which we navigate the social world around us.
Children and teenagers with Asperger's Syndrome may have difficulty reading subtle social cues or understanding day-to-day social encounters. They may get easily frustrated and they don't have the coping skills to control their emotional reactions.
We offer a social skills group specifically for children and teenagers aged between 8-18. The group strives to improve social skills at this critical time in a child’s life and provides the opportunity to meet others with similar difficulties and strengths. The groups are held twice monthly alternating between Speech and Language Therapist sessions and exciting social outings where new skills learnt can be put into practice!
Not only do these groups make a huge positive impact on the individual with Asperger’s Syndrome but also provide an essential break for families and carers.
Along with teaching comes the need for practice – and here’s where regular attendance at a social skills group may come in handy.
