Connexions and Careers Service (Camden Council)

Offers expert careers information, advice and guidance to help young people plan their future careers and education pathways. Careers and connexions advisers are working within schools and in the the community where the advice and support is aimed at young people who are not in education, employment or training.

The advisers work with young people 13 - 19 and up to 25 for those who have a learning difficulty or disability

For those with learning difficulties or disabilities, the support from the Connexions service is focused on advice and guidance for young people moving from statutory education into post 16 placements, giving advice on what types of course and support is available through person centred approaches to planning.

The service will provide direct support or refer a young person the a provider or service in the best position to support them

Where is the service located and what areas does it cover?

There is a Connexions service available in in all special schools and some main stream  schools as well as a specialist adviser for young people with disabilities.

Who does your service provide for?

The Connexions service is available to all young people who are Camden residents with special educational needs and disabilities from 16 -25 years old.

The Connexions service is on the Camden website and referrals come through schools, social workers, planning and placement officers as well as young people themselves 

Is your service fully accessible?

Yes

What training have the staff supporting children and young people with SEND had/or will be they be getting?

All Connexions staff are trained at least to level four in advice and guidance many have level seven Careers Guidance qualifications

Specialist Connexions workers will also have training in Person Centred Planning and using Makaton.
