Local Offer Description

Hi, I am Krystle (High Flyers Childminding) I live at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac in Crown Wood, Bracknell with my family (my husband, our two children and our cat). I am a positive, outgoing and friendly person and enjoy caring for children. My career has focused around childcare. I have a Diploma in Child Care and Education and many years of experience caring, nurturing and teaching children in various settings from 3 months onwards. I have worked in various Day Nurseries, a Montessori setting and helped with running a Toddler group.

My aim is always to provide a fun, stimulating and secure setting for your child/children where they can feel safe, happy and have the opportunity to learn, gain confidence and develop within a home from home environment.

I enjoy going out daily with the children to various places. We often visit local parks, woods, the Look Out Centre, Jock Lane, Locks Ride, South Hill Park, National Trust venues, toddler groups and visits to the Library. As well as going out daily, the children have space in the home and back garden to play with toys, puzzles, learning resources, story time, music and dance, creative fun, role play, construction play, baking, planned activities and gardening.

I have links with Crown Wood School and Nursery. My son attends Crown Wood School and my daughter Crown Wood Nursery and can accommodate your needs with drop off and pick-ups from Crown Wood School or Nursery.

1: How does the setting identify children with additional needs or SEND?

I will work alongside parents and other professionals in identifying additional needs or SEND and through regular observations and development checks.

2: How will I be informed / consulted about the ways in which my child is being supported?

I feel communication is vital in child care and like to promote this through communicating daily with you about how your child is. I will do this with the use of daily diaries, verbal communication, entrance display, newsletters, learning journals and observations,2 year checks, emails and text messages, particularly during the settling in stage. I also like to receive feedback and reflect on the child’s milestones to observe development.

To make your child’s transition as smooth and as positive as possible I encourage settling in visits along with ‘All about Me’ sheets to be filled in. This is to get know your child as much as possible.

3: How will the setting adapt the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum for my child's needs?

I work to the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) and display planned topical themed activities along with child led activities, adapting activities to each child’s age and stage of development and exploring many festivals and cultures.

4: What teaching strategies does the setting use for children with additional needs or learning difficulties?

I promote positive learning following each child's interests. Learning and activities are designed to meet the needs of each child in my care. 

5: What additional support does the setting provide for children with additional needs or SEND?

I aim to support individual needs and have experience caring for children with hearing impairments, speech and language delay, ADHD, Autism, English as a second language, developmental delay, allergies and intolerances and will accommodate their needs as much as possible with additional resources and support. I have a certificate in basic sign language.

6: How will the setting monitor my child's progress and how will I be involved in this?

Children's progress will be monitored through observations and development checks put together in an individual learning journal for each child. Parents will have the opportunity to meet regularly to discuss progress.

7: How do you ensure children with additional needs or SEND can be included in the same activities as other children, including trips?

I aim for my setting to be as inclusive as possible. Activities will be adapted to meet each child's need.

8: How accessible is the building for children with mobility difficulties / wheelchair users?

Unfortunately my home is not very accessible for wheel chairs due to limited space and the width of doors.

9: How will you support my child's transition to a new setting or school?

I feel communication between settings is very important. Learning journals will be accessible to new settings to provide the setting with information on your child's development. I will promote a good partnership between my setting and another to feedback to you any information regarding your child e.g. how your child's day at school was.


10: How does the setting assess the overall effectiveness of its SEN provision and how can parents / carers take part in this evaluation?

I encourage regular feedback through the compliments/ complaints book, questionnaires and face to face communication.

12: What arrangements does the setting have for feedback from parents / carers, including compliments and complaints?

I have a compliment and complaints book at easy access for parents which is reviewed daily. Daily diaries are used to enhance positive communication and face to face communication is very much promoted.
