Early Help Assessment framework (previously CAF)

Does this information need updating?

About the framework

The Early Help Assessment (EHA) is a process that aims to support children who need additional help. It helps to establish the child's needs and looks at ways in which they can be best supported.

An EHA is a collaborative process and should only be undertaken with your consent.

The discussion with you will aim to build on existing information and come to a better understanding of your family and child’s strengths and needs and then come up with a plan of action, with your agreement, to help support these.

Though your child’s EHA may recommend support from specific services, the assessment itself cannot guarantee this.
